The Silver Arrow Bowmen archery club was founded sometime in the early 50's. At the time there were two archery clubs in the Reno area. The Washoe Bowmen, and one other called the Modern Bowmen. Through unknown happenings the two clubs merged. S.A.B. has had a couple of archery ranges through the years. The first one was in the Galena creek area of Mt. Rose. Our existing range is in Lemmon Valley which is a suburb of Reno.
In 2007, after seven years of applications,
contracts and revisions, the BLM granted 110 acres where the current range
sits, to be a dedicated archery range. SAB partnered with Washoe County
Parks Department and now the range is officially the Washoe County Archery
Facility. SAB manages the park and the facilities, with oversight from
the Parks Department. In October of 2007 the property was surveyed and
now it is ready to fence. We are currently working on a grant from the Nevada
Department of Wildlife to fund the fencing.
If You know of any history of this club, have any old flyers, awards, or any information that you could share please let us know.
